The Chocolate Dip Burr is an example of a '6-plate burr'. This
burr has the exact same outside shape as a 6-piece burr, but the pieces are
different. Instead of two square rods in each direction with a 2x2
cross-section, there are two rectangular pieces with a 1x4 cross-section.
A computer analysis of all 6-plate burrs was run over the winter of
2001-2002; the highest level found for removing the first piece is 13. The
Chocolate Dip Burr is one of these assemblies - the only way to assemble
the pieces so that the dark and light colors are separated is in this
level-13 assembly.
This was my souvenir puzzle at the 22st International Puzzle Party. |
