This burr shape is a mixture of the standard 18-piece design, which is
based on 3 axes of rods, and the 4-axis
Hectix burr patented by Stewart
Coffin. The burr consists of 18 square rods made of walnut, and 12
hexagonal rods made of maple. The square rods are in the shape of a loose
18-piece burr, and the hexagonal rods are in the shape of a loose Hectix.
The square rods only intersect the hexagonal rods, and vice versa.
